Conference

I loved conference! It was our first conference with Jacob and it was certainly different than any of our previous conferences. Saturday Randy had to work of course, so it was just Jacob and me. For the first session he was ready for a nap by around 10:30am, so I missed a few minutes of it, but was able to watch most of it. Sometime during the 2 hour break between the Saturday sessions, Jacob had some real potatoes and carrots for the first time! He was so funny, he started making faces as soon as I started taking pictures! He liked eating off the table instead of the bowl. Whatever works! I wasn't able to watch any of the sessions from start to finish without having to feed, change or put Jacob to nap, but I guess that's what you get when you have a baby.

I was mostly impressed by the talk given by Elder Ballard. It was totally about young mothers and provided answers to important questions. The answers were simple yet profound. My favorite quote from it was "...the joy of motherhood comes in moments..." It's so true! I think when I first became a mother I was expecting every moment to be joyful and happy...and I quickly learned that is not the case! And I have come to the realization that it's ok. It's ok if you have a rough day, it's ok if you have a rough month! The most important thing I have learned so far is to love unconditionally. When Jacob was younger and he wasn't sleeping more than 2 hour blocks at night, I would hear him cry, and the last thing I wanted to do is wake up from my sleep...I was tired and worn out. But one look at his little face, and any frustrations seemed to leave me...what a little angel! How lucky I am to be able to be such a big part of his life right now, and such a big influence for his future. I also liked when Elder Ballard suggested to the children, "...most of all, you can put your arms around your mother often, and tell her you love her..." I really look forward to that day! I can barely imagine it, but it made me cry to just think of it.

Here's a link to his talk if you'd like to hear it again:

That was my favorite quote too. I really needed to hear it right then because I have been so frustrated with Benjamin lately. I have been praying for something and when he said that I started to cry and felt like he was saying that to me. That is so cool that you took out the same one little sentence.

I think I would have to agree...that was my favorite talk too! I'm glad Josh was listening when he talked about giving the mom's a day off! Hey we are going to be in your area on the 26th. My friend is getting married so we are going to the reception that night. We should try and get together if Randy isn't working.

Justin says: That kid is CUTE. Claudia must have really potent genes to overcome all of that Taylor...

Diana says: I am doing great. I am starting to show. Time to pull out the maternity clothes again! Yikes. You are quite the golfer. You should take lessons and then give me lessons :)
