Happy 2010! I hope everyone had a great holiday season!
This year I have a lot of personal goals I need to work to achieve...one of my main 'non-spiritual' goals, apart from finally becoming an organized person, is to loose at least 20 pounds before may! Why May? My sister's getting married! I gotta rock the red bridesmaid's dress! hahaha Seriously though, I haven't lost ANY weight since my initial loss when I went in for my 6 week post-partum check. This time around it has taken me A LOT longer to loose the baby weight...and I'm going to be 30 in March...so I'm only going down hill from there (metabolism slowing down etc)!
So by my birthday, which is March 20th, I hope to be close to my weight loss goal.
How do I intend to do this? I wish there was an easy way, which would also be a healthy way for me to loose the weight...but I'm sticking to the good ol' eating healthy, and exercise routine. I talked to my Doctor, and since I'm nursing, I can't exactly be on a low calory diet...and I need to be careful about the exercise I do, or it can all lead to a decrease in milk production.
We have Wii fit plus and I exercised every night for about 2 weeks...and then the holidays came around! I have a pantry full of treats and candy (thanks to a great sale at Randy's work!)...so I put them in the pantry... now at least they're out of sight, and not on the counter tops...
I hadn't ever been a 'sweets' kind of person, but ever since I was pregnant with Anna I discovered that chocolate and sweets are almost a necessity!! Good for my taste buds...bad for my thighs!
So the point of this blog is for someone, anyone who reads this...to hold me accountable!
My sister in law is training to run in the Ogden Marathon this summer...and I'm considering the option...I have never been in a marathon, but looking at all the people that run in marathons...I want to have their stamina and their bodies!
My biggest obstacle is making time to exercise...because that means I would have to do it before the kids wake up in the morning ( I love sleep too much), or after they go to bed (They are both asleep by around 9:30pm). I can't really exercise while they're awake...I have tried and it just doesn't work with a 2 and a half year old and almost 8 month old! I guess I could be exercising right now too instead of blogging :)
So wish me luck! I want to be able to look back at my pictures when I was 30 and say "Wow! I looked better than when I was 20!"
Any tips for me?
p.s. I have decided to start recording 'The biggest Loser' for some inspiration! :)

Good for you. I think I need the same goal. I just need to get out of my parents house. For the record, I think you already look great. You honestly don't look like you have had two kids.
I love this blog entry! I wish you all the best. Here's an idea that could help with your goal: a support system to help you through the temptations. I started a Biggest Loser club at work. It was $2 to sign up (money makes it more of a commitment). There were weekly weigh ins and measurements. If a member gained more than 2 pounds = $2 into the money pot. If they were caught cheating (eating unhealthy foods @ work) = $2 into money pot. At the end of the month, the member with the most weight loss wins the money pot! It was great to have a group of people working towards the same goal. Even those that didn't participate began to watch what they ate in the lunchroom. Maybe this is something the Relief Society could do? or maybe just in your circle of friends. Can't wait to see you ROCK that red dress!! Good Luck!
I hear you when it comes to losing weight with #2. I'm going to be 33 this month so that doesn't help much. I really want to train for a 1/2 marathon. I'm going to start by training for a 5k. I'm going to try the "couch to 5k" plan. You can google it for more info. I'm also nursing so I'm not sure what all I can do either.
Stephanie- You're too nice! I'm like half your height and weight double what you do! I wish I had your metabolism! :) thanks for the compliment though :)
Grace- That's a great idea! Maybe I'll give that a try...how much weight did your 'biggest loser' at work end up losing? You guys did it for a month...I really should give it a try...It's true that money makes it more of a commitment. I'll have to blog about it or send you a message to let you know how we're doing. Fabulous idea!
Jen- Maybe we should train together! I don't know your schedule, but we can make something work. Are you back at work now? Randy started that 5K program in the summer, but now he literally has no time for it...I think we have it printed out somewhere...I guess I'm kinda anxious about running
in the cold :(
I saw pictures of you at the '80's Prom party' and you looked like you were in no need of losing weight! I guess we're all our own biggest critic. Let me know if you want to start running soon :)
I'm so proud of you! I have yet to loose my #2 baby weight and I just don't have the motivation...AT ALL!! You did inspire me to start running at night again. I wish I could say, lets hold each other accountable and do this together, but I'm afraid of the commitment...??
Hey- don't go bragging on me yet. I've still got a long way of reading, exercise, and will to go! :) I'll call you soon, I promise. I just ordered 2 marathon training books from Amazon, both highly rated- one focuses on women who are non-runners training for marathons. I also ordered a book Dr. Laura's been recommending, "Stop Overeating Now". It's not a diet book, but rather a book that explores and pinpoints the psychological factors that determine your specific eating issues and mindsets. it's also highly rated and I'm looking forward to learning how to combat myself! ha
I'll see if the marathon training book talks about nursing mothers and exercise. I'm also going to google it to see what's out there about it. As long as you stay very hydrated and on a good diet you'll likely be fine. I've been worried about the same thing.
I just got wind of a deal at 24 hour fitness just up the road from us and am signing up to go work out there after the kids are in bed for my training- otherwise I won't have the motivation!
We'll talk soon!
P.S. I agree with Stephanie- you look GREAT! Now I am the one who needs to lose the baby weight- I look like I should have a whole herd by now!
Well-good luck! My suggestion is to invest in a nice double jogger stroller and load the kids up. It's quite the work out when you have to push two. The only difficulty is the cold weather.....so you may not be able to start doing that until the spring. My kids are usually good for a ride in the stroller if they have enough snacks and can keep their hands to themselves. It works best if we take "the long way" to the park and end there. Until good weather....good luck. OUr Rec. center has a parent/tot open gym time and I run around the gym while my kids play with the other kids. It's not my favorite, but it gets me moving. Maybe you could start an exercise/play group in your ward at the church and do the same thing?? I don't know. Good luck. By the way, I turned 30 last March and I have don't nothing but gain weight since. :( My 4 sisters and I are going to team up to run a marathon (about 5 mi. each) in June, so maybe that'll be good motivation for me.
so that was me that just commented. I didn't realize that my husband, Chris, was signed in. sorry about that.
Audra...when I first read the comment I was like "who's Chris?" LOL Thanks for clearing that up!
Are you guys on facebook? Let me know so we can add you guys :)
Do you have a double stroller then? I really need one but haven't bought one yet...I guess I want to see if there's a good deal on one out there...know of any? It's true though, right now they'll probably be cheaper than in the summer time...so maybe I should start looking! That's awesome you and your sisters are running a marathon! One day maybe I will too :)
The exersice/play group idea is a wonderful idea...especially right now that it has been so cold!
Good luck on your quest to lose weight too!
